Day1 ("we," "our," or "us") is a personal development application operated by Salt Brands. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use the Day1 mobile application (the "App").
2. Data Stored on Your Device
The following data is created and stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to any external server:
- Habit tracking data and completion history
- Journal entries and text content
- Voice recordings (stored as .m4a files)
- Mood tracking data
- Gratitude entries
- Streak and progress statistics
- App preferences and settings
If you delete the App, all locally stored data is permanently removed.
3. AI Coach — Data Sent to Third Parties
When you use the AI Coach feature, certain data is sent to OpenAI (openai.com) to generate personalized coaching responses. Before using this feature for the first time, the App asks for your explicit consent.
What data is sent to OpenAI:
- Your chat messages typed in the AI Coach conversation
- Basic profile information (name, age range, goals)
- Your habit names and current streak counts
What is NOT sent to OpenAI:
- Journal entries and gratitude notes
- Voice recordings
- Habit completion history and dates
- Mood tracking data
- Any payment or financial information
How OpenAI handles your data:
- OpenAI does not use API data to train their models
- Conversation data is not permanently stored on OpenAI servers

Day1 does not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking technologies. Specifically:

5. Payments and Subscriptions
Payments and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information, credit card numbers, or billing details. Apple's privacy policy governs the handling of your payment data.
